Santa Fe, New Mexico is the home of Altar Spirits, co-founded by the husband and wife team of Master Distiller Caley Shoemaker and Marketing Guru Jeff Gust. Their varied yet exceptional and highly decorated backgrounds mesh perfectly, making this distillery destined to be one of the most notable in America, producing an amazing product, with an equally amazing story.

Armed with a Specific Mechanical state-of-the-art 500 gallon Hybrid Still, pictured below during the installation process, Caley will have all the tools she needs to create her signature line of Sigil Gin and Ritual Vodka.

Caley is one of a handful of female distillers to lead a craft spirits brand. Her career began in 2009 in Colorado where she worked tirelessly to learn every aspect of the art of distilling. Caley’s next role was Head Distiller for Hangar 1 Vodka in Alameda, CA, where she oversaw the complete $4 Million build out of the brand’s current distillery and tasting room/brand home. This was her first experience with a Still built by Specific Mechanical, and it was a match made in heaven.

A former touring and recording artist with Sony, Jeff’s love for the craft beverage industry began in 1998 when he joined the Great Divide Brewery in Colorado, working in the cellar and on the packaging line. Having finished with the rigors of touring, Jeff pursued his passion for the craft brewery industry and launched a successful consulting firm aimed at helping small producers develop successful sales strategies and supporting craft beverage businesses in sales and sales planning.

The installation of the system is almost complete. Once operational, consumers can expect innovative and unique spirits inspired by Caley’s love and thorough knowledge of chemistry, local herbs and agriculture – Caley once created a vodka called Fog Point, diluted with the water captured from San Francisco’s famous fog.

Together, Caley and Jeff will soon make their mark and Specific Mechanical is proud to play a part in their continued success.
