Quality Inspector
Specific Mechanical Systems Ltd. is a manufacturer of brewing and distilling equipment, pressure vessels, food and beverage equipment, and biotech systems. The Quality Inspector is responsible for equipment inspections and documentation to ensure a high level of quality and product consistency. This role requires impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing objectives on time. The ideal candidate is a self-starter that works well with a diverse and committed team and has excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure fabricated equipment matches design specifications by comparing to the issued fabrication drawings
• Coordinate with shop supervisors for tracking of quality travelers, fabrication hold points, and final inspection
• Document inspection results with photography and written reports
• Communicate required adjustments or re-work to production department
• Investigate quality issues and develop and initiate preventative and corrective actions
• Train staff as required on QC process requirements
• Inspect incoming materials for quality and compliance with specifications
• Keep measurement equipment calibrated and operating properly
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
• Degree in Engineering, or
• Technical Diploma in a related discipline, or
• Acceptable combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment
• Quality Assurance or Quality Control certification preferred
Skills and Experience:
• Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and creating documentation
• Ability to quickly read and interpret fabrication drawings
• Ability to physically climb on and crawl inside equipment to perform inspections
• Ability to work in a team
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Effective verbal & written communication skills
Any of the following are Considered an Asset (Not Required):
• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Div.1 and ASME B31.3 codes
• QC or QA certifications
• Welding experience or certifications
• Welding inspector certifications
• Experience with pressure vessels, tanks, food service equipment, pharmaceutical vessels, piping systems, or structural steel
• Experience with stainless steel or copper
